Prescription Sunglasses? Did You Know These Styles?

Did you know? Sunglasses can actually be prescription sunglasses! That's right, prescription sunglasses are a type of eyewear that integrates the functions of prescription glasses and sunglasses, making them convenient and practical. Below, I'll introduce some common types of prescription sunglasses.

Tinted Sunglasses
Tinted sunglasses lenses are colored using a soaking and dyeing process. You can choose different shades of color, even gradients. However, be aware that it's best to switch to regular glasses indoors, as tinted lenses are thicker and less secure and stable than regular lenses.

Clip-on Prescription Sunglasses
These sunglasses come in two types: external clip-on and integrated prescription sunglasses. External clip-on sunglasses combine your existing prescription glasses with a clip-on sunglasses holder, offering affordability and easy switching. However, there aren't many types of external clip-on lenses available, and sometimes they may not fit the original lens size perfectly. There are also prescription over-lenses specifically designed for certain frames, with magnetic lenses for easy removal and a stylish look.

Integrated Prescription Sunglasses

These sunglasses combine clip-on lenses and prescription lenses into one pair, which can be flipped up and down for switching. Because they're integrated into one frame, they're stylish and suitable for vigorous exercise. However, when entering indoor or dark environments, the front cover needs to be flipped up to use the prescription lenses. The downside is that they cannot be used as regular prescription glasses, so you still need two pairs.

How to Choose the Right Sunglasses?

Using Contact Lenses with Sunglasses: First, wear contact lenses to achieve good corrected vision, then you can freely choose your preferred sunglasses.

Using Clip-on Sunglasses: Clip these onto the outside of your prescription lenses. It's simple, easy, and inexpensive, but the selection of styles and colors is limited, and they're not very aesthetically pleasing.

Using Tinted Resin Lenses: These are used to make prescription sunglasses. However, tinted lenses are not suitable for indoor wear, so you'll need to have regular prescription glasses separately.

Photochromic lenses: Resin or glass photochromic lenses from German Zeiss, French Essilor, and Japanese Hoya offer good photochromic effects and reliable optical performance. They are convenient for both indoor and outdoor use, but the lenses are relatively expensive.

Clip-on lenses: These are sunglasses that fit perfectly over the frame and are fixed to the eyeglasses. While they offer a much better aesthetic than clip-on lenses, they add weight to the overall look.

In short, choosing the right sunglasses involves considering not only appearance but also functionality and comfort. Hopefully, this information is helpful!
